The Niagara Falls riding has been dominated by the NDP since 2014, when incumbent Wayne Gates won.
He has held the seat every election since then and is running again.
There are over 136,000 residents in the riding, which includes the City of Niagara Falls and the towns of Fort Erie and Niagara-on-the-Lake, says Elections Ontario.
CBC Hamilton sent a survey to major party candidates, or their party representatives. None of the candidates responded.
Also running in Niagara Falls is Gary Dumelie for the New Blue Party and Andrew Soifert with the Ontario Party.
Wayne Gates, NDP
Before joining the NDP, Gates was a Niagara Falls city councillor, union president and health-care advocate, says his campaign website.
If re-elected, Gates says he'll be "a leader in the fight against Liberal and PC hydro privatization schemes, unfair hydro bills and gasoline price gouging."
He's worked to expand and protect public health services in the area and secured jobs in manufacturing, transportation and tourism, says his website.
Shafoli Kapur, Liberal
Shafoli Kapur has a degree in electrical engineering, owns a small business and is an immigration consultant, says her campaign website.
"For over 12 years, she has worked tirelessly to help people — especially newcomers — integrate into the Canadian economy, and now she's ready to bring that passion and dedication to Queen's Park," the website says.
"Shafoli's vision for Niagara Falls is one where everyone has access to the opportunities they need to succeed, regardless of their background."
Ruth-Ann Nieuwesteeg, PC
Ruth-Ann Nieuwesteeg is a lifelong Niagara Falls resident and business owner, running a funeral home, her campaign website says.
She's also been a "strong advocate for local health care," as chair of the Niagara Hospital Foundation.
"As part of the Ontario PC team, Ruth-Ann will work to keep taxes low, improve healthcare, and invest in local businesses to build a stronger, more prosperous Niagara Falls," says the website.
Celia Taylor, Green
Celia Taylor is a legal information business owner and paralegal who's lived in the Niagara region her whole life, her campaign website says.
"Throughout her career in the legal field, Celia has gained a deep understanding of the barriers individuals face in accessing justice," her website says. "Recognizing a significant gap in public legal knowledge, she made it her mission to empower people by improving their understanding of the legal system."
If elected, Taylor says she will prioritize environmental protection, equitable access to justice and sustainable development.
