Confirmed case of COVID-19 at Husky gas station on Centennial Parkway
The worker's last shift was on May 17, according to the company
A worker at the Husky gas station on Centennial Parkway North has tested positive for COVID-19.
Hamilton public health contacted Husky on Monday about the confirmed case of the virus, according to an email from spokesperson Dawn Delaney.
The employee last worked on May 17, she said, adding the gas station at 220 Centennial Parkway North was closed and underwent "thorough sanitization" as a precaution.
"Our priority is the health and safety of our customers, employees and the community," said Delaney.
"A number of precautions are in place at all our locations, including regular enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of common, high-contact areas such as countertops, door handles, fueling nozzles and pin pads on both pumps and in stores, as well as social distancing practices."
The Centennial gas station was shut down Monday but re-opened Tuesday.
It's the second Husky location in Hamilton to be closed because of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past week.
An employee at the Upper Ottawa location also tested positive and the station was temporarily shut for cleaning. It has since reopened.
Husky says anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms should follow government health guidelines and customers who were at the gas station on May 17 should contact public health with any questions.
