Niagara police have charged a 51-year-old woman over two months after a white Ford Edge hit three migrant workers, killing one.

Fermin Soto Sanchez was reportedly walking his bike along Seventh Street in St. Catharines on June 13 with his two co-workers and friends, Alfonso Ramos and Francisco Cordova, when they were hit.

Ramos and Cordova were hurt but Soto Sanchez was pronounced dead later that day.

The driver was charged Wednesday with careless driving, careless driving causing bodily harm and careless driving causing death.

Soto Sanchez was a migrant worker from Mexico, according to family and friends.

He had been going back and forth between Canada and his home in Michoacán for at least 10 years.

Cordova and Ramos were also from Mexico and remember Soto Sanchez as a good friend and a "great cook."

Soto Sanchez had a wife and three children back in Mexico.

The 51-year-old driver was released on a summons and will appear in court on Sept. 13, according to police.
