Niagara police are asking the public for information after a collision between a white Ford Edge and three cyclists in St. Catharines on Monday evening that left one cyclist dead.

The crossover-style vehicle reportedly hit the cyclists in west St. Catharines, on Seventh Street Louth between the South Service Road and Second Avenue Louth, shortly before 6:42 p.m., police said in a release issued Monday evening.

Paramedics received a call about the injured people and soon arrived at the scene with the police, the release said.

One of the cyclists, a 36-year-old man, was in critical condition at the scene and later died in hospital. The other two, a 36-year-old and 42-year-old, were also hospitalized with serious injuries.

All of the men worked and lived in the city, police said, but were resident of Mexico working at a local farm.

Collision reconstruction officers were on the scene overnight trying to piece together what happened.

The driver stayed at the scene, police said, and no charges have been laid. The cause of the crash is sill under investigation.

The release says they would like anyone who saw what happened to contact them or Crime Stoppers if they wish to remain anonymous.
