Hamilton-area lookouts featured on Ontario list of best places to view fall colours

With cooler weather comes the breathtaking colours of fall.

But have you ever wondered where the best places across the province are to soak in the reds, golds and oranges of autumn leaves before they're gone?

Destination Ontario has put together a list trying to answer that exact question, and the "11 Ultimate Ontario Fall Colour Lookouts" includes a few locations Hamilton residents might find familiar.

Near the top of the list is Dundas Peak.

A popular location for both outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking Instagram-worthy snaps, the lookout offers a scenic view of the Dundas Valley along with access to Webster and Tews waterfalls.

The guide does note that weekday visits are recommended as the trails and parking can get crowded on weekends.

Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area in Milton also makes the short list.

"With sheer cliffs, cave systems and rock crevices, this spot is a mecca for rock climbers," states Destination Ontario, adding the Niagara Escarpment Cliffs provide several spots to look out over the Nassagaweya Canyon below.

The list also features a few destinations for adventurous souls living in the GTA, but looking to escape the city.

Anyone looking to clamber over some lakeside cliffs can check out the trails along the Scarborough Bluffs and the Cheltenham Badlands feature a unique geological setting to showcase splendid fall colours against rusty red shale.
