Vader verdict coming this summer
The public will finally get to know the verdict in the Travis Vader murder trial in August or September. The trial that began in March is winding down with the defence expected to rest its case Friday.
Final arguments in June, then judge needs ‘a couple of months’
The judge in the first-degree murder trial of Travis Vader revealed today he'll be ready to deliver a decision in August or September.
Justice Denny Thomas noted Thursday was day number 50 of the trial, which began in March, and with so much material before the court he will need a few months to read everything.
Vader is standing trial in Court of Queen's Bench in Edmonton in the deaths of Lyle and Marie McCann in July 2010.
The Crown has already laid out its case against Vader.
Vader's legal team plans to rest their case Friday.
However, the prosecution and the defence still need to make final arguments to the court. Thomas set aside June 23 and June 24 for that to happen.
