Travis Vader arrested on assault charges
Vader scheduled to be back in court June 23
Travis Vader, the man accused of killing an elderly St. Albert couple, is back in custody due to unrelated charges, according to RCMP.
He was arrested in Barrhead and faces assault charges in relation to a domestic incident, according to RCMP Sgt. Bob Dodd.
Vader is still facing a trial on first-degree murder charges in the disappearance of Lyle and Marie McCann, who were last seen leaving St. Albert for a road trip in British Columbia. Their burned RV was found days later near Edson, Alta.
Vader was re-arrested for in the McCann case in December, ten months after the charges were stayed, and was out on bail ahead of the trial next year. He has repeatedly denied having any involvement with the McCanns' disappearance.
He will be back in court on the assault charges on June 23.
