A Stony Plain man had his Subaru stolen Thursday evening by a pair of car thieves who answered his ad on Kijiji.

RCMP say the man listed his 2013 Subaru on Kijiji, and got two calls from a blocked number.

He agreed to meet the potential buyer in a public parking lot.

The seller met a man and a woman in the parking lot behind an apartment complex at 4910-50 Street in Stony Plain.

The bogus buyers looked over the Subaru. They asked if they could take it for a test drive around the block, and said they would leave their 2006 BMW X3 as collateral.

The man gave the seller the BMW keys and the two drove off. They never came back.

The seller called police and discovered the BMW had been stolen in Edmonton on May 11.

Police are now looking for the thieves, and for a black Subaru with Alberta plate BNW3672.

The man is described as Caucasian, about 50 years old, with short grey hair.

The woman is described as Caucasian, about 30 years old, with hair shaved on both sides leaving a strip on top of her head.

Anyone with information is asked to call Stony Plain RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
