Sadie the bouncing dog leaps into hearts of BuzzFeed fans
High-energy hound seeking equally energetic handler, says Edmonton Humane Society
An Edmonton Humane Society video of Sadie, the bouncing dog, has given the 14-month-old homeless hound online celebrity status.
Sadie arrived at the animal shelter back in December.
"When she came in she was much like ... you'd expect a one-year-old dog to be — full of energy, hasn't learned all her manners yet," said spokesman Travis Grant.
But it became clear the dog had a big heart and a big personality, he said.
"She doesn't know quite how to express her love yet, she likes to express it with her paws," he said
"She loves people. She's very curious, and when you walk past her kennel and she senses someone's there she cannot abide not having a part of that action."
Thanks to an Instagram video of her jumping with joy, Sadie's becoming an international internet sensation.
"It was less than 12 hours after I'd posted it, I received a call from BuzzFeed from their offices in New York City and they wanted to know all about Sadie," Grant said.
So far, almost 40,000 people have viewed the video of Sadie happily bouncing up and down with her goofy grin.
The Humane Society says there's been a lot of interest in the pup, but she's on her third search for the right home.
She needs a special owner who has a lot of space and energy themselves, Grant said.
