One person is in hospital and eight others were forced to find shelter elsewhere after a fire at an Edmonton rooming house Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called to the building on 96th Street near 106A Avenue just before 3:30 a.m., said spokesperson Holly Budd.

The Red Cross was called it to help those who were displaced, she said.

The two-storey rooming house was not destroyed, but it's not known when residents will be able to return.
