Actor Robert Redford takes a swipe at the Alberta oilsands and Premier Alison Redford responds

Celebrities who criticize Alberta's oilsands lack credibility, says Premier Alison Redford.

"I've really got to question how people who are using energy flying on planes can make these sorts of comments and assume that they're going to have any credibility."

In a new video American actor and director Robert Redford blasts efforts to build the Keystone XL pipeline while calling the oilsands the dirtiest oil on the planet.

He also said "developing the Canadian tarsands is destroying our great northern forest at a terrifying rate," and "producing enough carbon pollution to wreak havoc with our climate for decades to come."

Last week Canadian musician Neil Young compared the Fort McMurray area to Hiroshima and said that oilsands development is killing first nations people.

The Alberta premier made her comments while on a 12-day trade mission to China where she is promoting the province's energy industry.
