Inspiration was also found in characters from movies, television and books.

Parents who named their babies Peeta, Cato, Rue, Primrose, Seneca and Gale may be fans of The Hunger Games trilogy, though there doesn’t appear to be a Katniss in the group.

Hermione, Ginny and Draco were likely inspired by Harry Potter, and parents may have got ideas for names like Arya, Brienne, Jory and Rayder from Game of Thrones.

The oddest names include Logic, One, Jixxr for boys and Siri, Lava, Conshens and Eunique for girls.

Some other boy names include Oakley, Tesla, Wrangler, Stetson and Dyson.

In 2013, there were 53,090 babies born in Alberta, the most ever in a single year.
