"If it's really smooth, that would be a great boardroom table," said Garry Berteig.

"Oh, that would go great in my foyer," said Benjamin Berteig.  When asked if he'd pay the current bid of $1,505,  he responded, "Oh yes, I'd pay triple."

He may have to. There are still four more days of bidding left to go.

'Smart investment'?

"It'd be cool for a man cave right?" said Drew Carlson. "But you know, I can't justify, especially in this economy right now. spending $1,500 dollars or more on a sign.

"But if you're a diehard Oilers fan, I could see the smart investment for yourself and to have bragging rights from your buddy too."

The steep price tag may be the smallest problem with owning the sign. The winning bidder will have to figure out how to get it home and through the front door.

"It'd be hard to move that thing. Where would you put it? It's not going in the man cave, " said longtime fan Bob Karwash.

Online bidding for the sign closes June 21st. The winning bid will also get a letter of authenticity from the Edmonton Oilers.
