Multiple people suffered minor injuries after a Greyhound bus left the highway near Jasper, Alta., Monday morning.

Thirty-five people were on the bus, travelling from Jasper to Edmonton, when it crashed into the ditch near Connaught Drive shortly before 6 a.m., police told CBC News.

The bus stayed upright when it hit the ditch. RCMP said the driver and a number of passengers were taken to hospital in Jasper, mostly suffering bruises.

Police said no one was seriously injured.

"Lots of scrapes, lots of bloody noses," said RCMP Const. Fraser Bjornson. "Any time you hear 'bus collision' with 35 people on board, you think the worst — but I think, for what we had, we were relatively lucky"

The other passengers were taken to the town’s fire hall.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
