Edmonton to fly pride flag for duration of Olympic games

The pride flag is now flying in front of city hall after a social media campaign urging the city to send a message of solidarity with the LGBT community in Russia during the Sochi Olympics.

The pride flag is now flying in front of city hall after a social media campaign urging the city to send a message of solidarity with the LGBT community in Russia during the Sochi Olympics

The city raised the flag Friday morning.

 It will fly on the community pole on the southwest side of the plaza in front of city hall for the duration of the Winter Olympics. 

Edmonton joins other Canadian cities such as Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa and St. John's in raising the rainbow flag.
