Council will take the final vote at the end of the month. Only one councillor, Kerry Diotte, is against the bylaw.

The fine for breaking the bylaw will be $250.

Health groups urged the city to phase out smoking in outdoor spaces such as parks, festivals and outdoor attractions.

The bylaw includes a three-year, $75,000 public-awareness campaign to be launched April 1st.
