Communities to move to community mailboxes in summer 2015
Neighbourhoods in Sherwood Park and St. Albert will be losing door-to-door delivery next year.
Homes and businesses with postal codes starting with T8A and T8N will move to community mailboxes in the early part of summer 2015.
Canada Post said the move affects 8,626 addresses in Sherwood Park and 9,951 addresses in St. Albert.
The change is part of the Crown corporation’s plan to phase out home delivery to urban residents over the next five years.
About 6,000 to 8,000 jobs will be lost over the next five years but the cuts are expected to come through retirements.
Each address will be sent a package with a mail-in survey over the next couple of days.
The information will be used to help find locations for the new community mailboxes.
