Two B.C. men are facing trafficking charges after more than one kilogram of cocaine and nearly 150 fentanyl pills were seized from two Grande Prairie homes.

Members of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams organized crime and gang team, with assistance from Grande Prairie RCMP, searched the properties on Oct. 13..

The bust was the result of a month-long investigation into two suspected drug dealers who were operating in cooperation with a 'criminal group,' ALERT officials said in a statement

Investigators say more than $150,000 in illegal property was recovered from both homes, including;

  • 1 kg of cocaine
  • 146 fentanyl pills
  • 155 grams of marijuana
  • 175 millilitres of GHB
  • 2 body armour vests
  • $56,120 cash proceeds of crime

"The seizure and the disruption of this criminal group will help to reduce the negative community impact created by the local drug trade," said RCMP Grande Prairie Officer in Charge, Supt. Don McKenna.

"This seizure highlights the importance of a coordinated provincial effort to stem the movement and sale of controlled substances," McKenna said in a statement.

Both suspects — a 24-year-old man from of Langley, B.C. and a 22-year-old man from Kelowna — are facing numerous charges related to drug possession and trafficking.
