Boy pulled from pool not breathing when taken to hospital
A child was pulled from the pool at the city-owned O'Leary Leisure Centre after he was found floating face down in the water.
Mark Torjusen, a spokesman for the city of Edmonton, confirmed that the boy was pulled out of the water around 2:30 p.m Tuesday.
Lifeguards began performing CPR. Paramedics continued life-saving efforts, but the boy, who is believed to be around 7 or 8 years old, was not breathing when he was taken to hospital.
Melissa Stuckless watched as lifeguards tried to save the child.
"He wasn't moving. There was no life in him," she said. "They were doing CPR, they were doing what they could to revive him."
CBC has not been able to update the child's condition. Alberta Health Services officials say privacy legislation prevents them from releasing that information.
