Another 34th Ave. jewelry store hit by thieves
A jewelry store on Edmonton's 34th Avenue was hit by robbers Monday, just a block away from a jewelry store that was targeted by thieves last Wednesday.
But there is no evidence Monday's robbery at R.K. Jewellers is connected to the robbery at Bagga Jewellers, police said.
At about 4:30 p.m., two men entered R.K. Jewellers in a strip mall at 92nd Street and 34th Avenue. After assaulting and restraining the female owner of the store, they emptied several cases full of jewelry, then fled in two vehicles that were waiting in the alley behind the store.
The woman suffered minor injuries.
"She was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital, but I believe she was released shortly thereafter," police spokesperson Patrycia Thenu said.
Police are looking for two men, each believed to be about 20 years old and of South Asian descent.
Last Wednesday, thieves struck Bagga Jewellers at 93rd Street and 34th Avenue in a bizarre robbery where one of three men entered the store in a wheelchair, pointed a shotgun at the owner and fled on foot with the others. Thousands of dollars' worth of jewelry was taken in that heist.
