Alberta trade minister off to Japan, China
Itinerary includes food expo in Tokyo, food festival in Shanghai
Economic Development and Trade Minister Deron Bilous is travelling to China and Japan to drum up business for Alberta products.
Bilous plans to promote Alberta forestry, food products, oil and gas, clean technology and tourism during his 12-day trip. He leaves on Tuesday.
Some of the events on his itinerary include the Canada Food Expo in Tokyo and Taste Alberta and Canada Beef Food Festival in Shanghai.
Bilous is also meeting with government and industry representatives.
The cost of sending Bilous on the trips with two staff members is estimated at $60,000.
His visit will intersect with a separate trade mission made up of 80 companies and economic development associations that will be in China from Nov. 21 to 26.
This is the second time Bilous has travelled to Asia for a trade mission this year. He was in China and Korea in March.
