Death of man found downtown deemed suspicious, police say

Police are investigating what they are calling a suspicious death that took place early Sunday morning in downtown Calgary.
According to a release, police were called at approximately 4:50 a.m. to 11th Avenue and First Street S.E. after receiving reports of a man who was in medical distress.
He was transported to hospital, but was later pronounced dead, police said.
There was no information immediately available as to what led to the man being found in medical distress.
Police said an autopsy is expected to take place early this week to identify the victim.
Traffic was still being rerouted in the area as of 5 p.m. Sunday, as police continued to investigate. Roads in the area began to be reopened at 6 p.m.

Police said there is no indication at this time that the death was linked to last night's shooting of two men.
Two men were found with gunshot wounds in northeast Calgary Saturday night. The first man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A third suspicious death investigation was also underway in Fish Creek Park, after a body was found that was on fire on Sunday.
