Naheed Nenshi finalist for World Mayor Prize
Calgary's mayor up against 26 other city leaders from around the world
Naheed Nenshi is in the running to be named the world’s most outstanding mayor.
The mayor of Calgary is among 26 finalists for the 2014 World Mayor prize, a trophy given out every two years by the City Mayors Foundation to leaders who have made an outstanding contribution to their communities.
Voting ends Friday and a winner will be announced in January.
The City Mayors board of fellows will choose the winner and two runners-up based on the number of email votes received “and the strength and passion of supporting testimonials”, the foundation said on its website.
The City Mayors Foundation is an international think tank on urban affairs.
The prize has been awarded every two years since 2004.
