Michelle Rempel, the outgoing minister of state for Western economic diversification, caused quite a stir on Twitter last night when she aired her thoughts about the leadership of the Conservative Party in the wake of its poor showing in Monday's federal election.

The Calgary MP, who will be returning to the House of Commons after winning her seat in Monday's election, asked the Twitterverse to reflect on the role of young women in politics: "Are you ready for someone like me ... I mean, I'm too brash, impetuous and abrasive, right?"

Her series of tweets started off simply.

Almost immediately, Twitter users began to take notice.

As the conversation continued, Rempel became more frank in her tweets.
