Man taken to hospital after early morning shooting in Calgary's downtown core

Calgary police are investigating a shooting in the downtown core that took place at around 1 a.m. Saturday.

Calgary police are investigating a shooting in the downtown core that took place at around 1 a.m. Saturday.

Police were alerted to an incident between two groups of people at Seventh Avenue and First Street S.E. in Calgary's downtown core, near Olympic Plaza.

Upon arrival, they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police said they are still investigating and trying to determine who was involved, but have no one in custody at this time.

No further information about the shooting, or about the man taken to hospital, was immediately available.
