Everyone safely out of home, kitten reported missing
Calgary fire crews responded to a large house fire in the northeast Thursday afternoon.
A neighbour spotted smoke pouring from a home in the 100 block of Costa Mesa Close N.E. just before 3 p.m.
"When fire crews arrived there was thick smoke coming from the window," said spokesperson Carol Henke.
"The fire was upgraded to a second alarm for additional resources. What we know is that everyone made it out safely, unfortunately one cat is missing."
Investigators haven't determine the cause of the fire and were still on scene Thursday evening.
Occupants of the house, two adults and six children, are now without a place to live.
A cat earlier thought to be lost has been found but a kitten remains missing.
