Alberta Pollster Bruce Cameron joins CBC's Rob Brown to discuss the government's online budget survey and the potential provincial election

An Alberta pollster says there's no guarantee there will be an election, but everyone in the province would be surprised if one wasn't called this spring.

Bruce Cameron with Return on Insight sat down with CBC's Rob Brown to talk about whether there are political motivations behind the Alberta government's online budget survey, a potential election call before the opposition parties have leaders in place and nomination races to keep an eye on.

"I would watch for some of the nomination battles that you're going to have with the Wildrose MLAs that crossed the floor," he said.

"It's not clear that they have overwhelming support in some of those areas. There's going to be hard-fought battles to win those nominations for PCs in those Wildrose-crossover ridings."
