Accused in Calgary's biggest meth bust victim of fatal targeted shooting
Jason Quinn Antonio charged in 2013 after more than $1M worth of meth seized
Calgary police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting this weekend and say the man was targeted.
On Saturday morning, police were called to the 300 block of Manora Crescent N.E. for reports that a man had been shot.
Emergency crews found the man and brought him to hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
In an update released on Monday afternoon, police said they believe the 39-year-old victim, Jason Quinn Antonio, was targeted by the shooter and had gone to the back alley behind the residence when he was shot.
CBC News has confirmed Antonio was one of two men charged last year in Calgary's largest methamphetamine bust.
Police seized more than $1 million worth of methamphetamine, cocaine and crack cocaine in that September 2013 raid and Antonio was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.
No suspects have been identified so far and it's still not clear whether the shooting is linked to a second shooting that look place minutes later on nearby Maidstone Crescent N.E., in which a residence was fired upon.
Police initially said a bullet had entered one home and another had become lodged in a second residence, investigators now say only the first home was hit by gunfire.
Investigators are conducting ballistics testing to find out whether the two shootings are linked.
