Woman and dogs safe after escaping trailer fire in Richmond
The fire broke out in the woman's trailer in the 17000-block of River Road
A woman and her two dogs are safe after they escaped a fire that broke out in their trailer in Richmond late Tuesday night.
Firefighters were called to the 17000-block of River Road just before midnight, after a neighbour saw the woman's trailer on fire near a wooded area.
Battalion Chief Gordon Graebel with Richmond Fire said the woman and her dogs managed to escape the fire mostly unharmed.
Graebel said the cause may have had something to do with a heat source inside the trailer.
"It could be something to do with the cold weather and perhaps a wood stove, but we're not certain at this time," he said.
"That's what some of the initial reports are from the homeowner."
Graebel said the dogs may have suffered some smoke inhalation, but the woman was physically unharmed.
However, the fire destroyed her trailer.
