Vancouver police identify victim in fatal Downtown Eastside stabbing

Vancouver police continue to investigate the city’s ninth homicide of the year.

Vancouver police have named the man stabbed to death early Tuesday on the Downtown Eastside.

Police say Mark Eriksen, 51, was stabbed at Main and East Hastings just before 8 a.m. 

According to police, the suspect approached Eriksen on a bicycle and exchanged a few words before the stabbing. 

Eriksen was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries a short time later. 

Police say the attack was not random.
