Memorial marks 1 year since RCMP constable's death
Const. Sarah Beckett was killed in the line of duty on Apr. 5, 2016
A memorial was held in Langford, B.C., Wednesday to honour an RCMP officer who died in the line of duty one year ago.
Const. Sarah Beckett, 32, was killed when her cruiser was hit by a pickup truck at an intersection in the Victoria suburb on Apr. 5, 2016.
The truck driver has since been charged in relation to her death.
Thousands of people — including many police officers, emergency responders and military personnel — attended her funeral last year.
The constable was an 11-year veteran of the RCMP who left behind a husband and two young children. A memorial plaque was unveiled Beckett's honour in front of the West Shore RCMP detachment in July.
On Wednesday, flowers were laid at the site. A "Best Mom Ever" badge was placed next to the plaque.
Members of the West Shore RCMP also marked the anniversary with a simple tweet.
We are thinking about you Sarah. Thanks for looking upon us. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/missyou?src=hash">#missyou</a> <a href="https://t.co/iMUf517XQv">pic.twitter.com/iMUf517XQv</a>
