Funeral for RCMP Const. Sarah Beckett to be held Tuesday in Victoria
Island Highway will be closed to vehicle traffic between Wilfert Road and Wale Road 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. PT
The RCMP is holding a funeral service for Const. Sarah Beckett at the Q Centre in Victoria, B.C. at 2:00 p.m. PT Tuesday April 12, 2016.

The RCMP is asking for the public's patience as the Island Highway will be closed to all vehicle traffic between Wilfert Road and Wale Road between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Many enforcement officers will participate in the funeral march, including Beckett's troop mates, fellow RCMP officers, partnering local police departments, and members of other enforcement agencies.
The procession will begin on Wilfert Road at approximately 1:00 p.m. and then turn onto the Island Highway before ending at the Q Centre.
People who wish to view the procession are encouraged to do so at the corner of Wilfert Road and the Island Highway.

Ongoing investigation
Const. Sarah Beckett died last Tuesday when her police cruiser was in a collision with a pick-up truck in the Victoria suburb of Langford.
Beckett, an 11-year member of the force who spent her entire career on Vancouver Island, is survived by her husband and two young children.
The driver of the other vehicle was arrested at the scene and released last Wednesday. No charges have been laid, but police said the investigation is ongoing.
