Police seek clues in case of B.C. teen missing 1 year

Police are returning to Bowen Island on Saturday to look for evidence in the 2009 disappearance of a B.C. teenager whose death was recently ruled a homicide.

Investigators say the search has not been prompted by any new information, but is part of an ongoing investigation into the mysterious disappearance of Jodi Henrickson, 17.

Police say the search will be focused on an area on Bowen Island known locally as Seven Hills, which was searched by police dogs following the Squamish teen's disappearance.

Police say they are searching specifically for Henrickson's personal effects and are hoping to narrow down the area of a possible crime scene.

Volunteers from the community will assist the RCMP and North Shore Search and Rescue in the search.

Henrickson was last seen at around dawn on June 20, 2009, after attending at least one house party on the island, located in Howe Sound, a short ferry ride from West Vancouver.

One of the last people believed to have seen Henrickson alive is her ex-boyfriend, Gavin Arnott. The couple had been at a party but went their separate ways after an argument.

In March, police said new evidence led them to believe Henrickson was the victim of foul play, and her death was being classified as a homicide.

Investigators have said they believe some residents of the island are holding back information about the case.

The search is expected to continue for most of the day Saturday.
