Unco-operative witnesses hamper search for teen on Bowen Island

Search efforts resumed Monday morning on B.C.'s Bowen Island for a teenage girl who disappeared after a house party, but police say they are not getting the full co-operation of some possible witnesses.

Seventeen-year-old Jodi Henrickson, from Squamish, was last seen around dawn on June 20 after attending at least one house party on the island, located in Howe Sound, a short ferry ride from West Vancouver.

Members of the North Vancouver-based North Shore Rescue team assisted the RCMP's air, marine and canine services in the search over the weekend, and the Mounties were asking island residents to check their properties for anything unusual.

Cpl. Dave Ritchie of the Squamish RCMP detachment said Henrickson met friends and acquaintances at one or two parties, but some people who attended the house parties were still not co-operating fully with the police investigation.

"There were two houses parties on Bowen Island that were involved, and we've spoke to a lot of people from those parties, but we're still not getting co-operation from all parties involved, and we know there are people on the island that do have information that we need to speak to," said Ritchie.

Henrickson arrived on Bowen Island on the evening of June 19, but there is no record she returned to the mainland, say police. She is described as white with long dark brown hair, a small build, approximately five-foot-three, wearing a black leather jacket and a black long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans.
