Police investigate fatal shooting of 22-year-old man in Surrey
Karanpartap Waraich found shot inside vehicle that had crashed into Mcdonald's sign
The Integrated Homicide Investigation team was called to the scene of a fatal shooting Monday night.
Shortly before 9:15 p.m. PT, Surrey RCMP received reports of gunshots in the 12900 block of 96 Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found Karanpartap Waraich, 22, with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle that had crashed into the sign of a McDonald's restaurant.
He could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the shooting was a targeted incident.
"There are many more investigative avenues that IHIT needs to concentrate on, and we are looking to speak with any witnesses who may not have already come forward to police," said Staff Sgt. Jennifer Pound in a news release.
"Thankfully, there were no other victims, as a result of this brazen shooting."
Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT.
