Man in hospital following police-involved shooting in Surrey

A man is in hospital and the IIO is investigating following a police-involved shooting in Surrey, B.C., on Thursday morning.

A man is in hospital and the IIO is investigating following a police-involved shooting in Surrey, B.C., Thursday morning.

Surrey RCMP say they were called to the 12000 block of 100th Avenue at 7 a.m. after a report that a woman had been stabbed.

According to a statement from the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C., a man with a knife was shot during the RCMP response.

"An interaction occurred between an officer and a male with a knife,"  the release reads. "During the course of this interaction the male was shot."

According to the IIO, the man is in stable condition and the woman is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
