Mom using Facebook to fulfill autistic son's birthday wish

A mother from Prince George, B.C., is using social media to make her autistic son's birthday dreams come true.

Jolene Paquette's 11-year-old son Jeaden is autistic and has a hard time making friends. Every year, he sends out invitations to his birthday party in hopes of having a big bash — but he usually ends up disappointed. 

This year, when Paquette asked Jeaden what he wanted for his birthday, he had one wish. 

"I wanted lots of people to come. 'Cause then some of my other birthdays, not that many people would come," said Jeaden.

Now a heart-broken Paquette is determined to make his birthday dreams come true. She set up a Facebook page inviting everyone to his party on March 29th.

"I am asking my friends and family and anyone else to help me make his wish come true by coming to join my son on his special day if you live in our community. No gifts needed," writes Paquette on the Facebook page.

"If people are not in our community and not able attend the event, and want to help by sending a card or postcard, everyone is more than welcome to do so. Any cards or postcards received will be used to make a collage to hang at his party." 

Paquette says she has received supportive messages from across the country since posting the Facebook page last week. 

"I just want him to have one special party. Just show him that he's important," said Paquette.

The party is being held at the Prince George Roll-A-Dome on March 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. PT.
