Man injured in Abbotsford shooting on Sandpiper Drive

A 23-year-old man was shot in the leg in Abbotsford on Monday night, according to police.

A 23-year-old man was shot in the leg in Abbotsford on Monday night, according to police.

The police received calls about shots being fired in the 30700 block of Sandpiper Drive at around 8:35 p.m. PT Monday. 

The area was searched and police found shell casings on the road, but no evidence of vehicles or homes in the area being struck.

Gunshot wound

Police learned a 23-year-old man arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg shortly after the shots were reported and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators believe he was the victim of the shooting that involved at least one vehicle and that the incident is related to an ongoing youth conflict in the city.

"We have not received any cooperation from the 23-year-old man who is well known to police." said Const. Ian MacDonald,of the Abbotsford Police.

"Nonetheless, neighbours are concerned about the incident and we're diligently investigating."
