The B.C. Coroners Service has identified Kevin Seiji Mukuyama as the alleged dog-stabbing suspect who died in police custody in Chilliwack on Wednesday.
42-year-old became unresponsive after police deployed a Taser while trying to arrest him
The B.C. Coroners Service has identified Kevin Seiji Mukuyama as the alleged dog-stabbing suspect who died in police custody in Chilliwack on Wednesday.
The 42-year-old Chilliwack man became unresponsive after an arrest by the police shortly after 4 p.m. PT on Wednesday.
Police say the suspect struggled with officers during their attempts to arrest him and a Taser was deployed.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is investigating the circumstances around his death.
Earlier this week, the RCMP said one officer was also injured during the incident, but he was treated at the hospital and released.
The dog that the suspect was allegedly stabbing was also taken to the vet for treatment.
