A Kelowna, B.C. man is facing potential impaired driving charges after RCMP officers found him allegedly passed out behind the wheel of his pick up truck in line at a fast food drive-thru window.

Police responded to the incident just before 2 a.m PT at a fast food restaurant in Kelowna's Rutland neighbourhood, according to Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey.

The driver's GMC Sierra pickup truck was still running and the man was asleep when officers arrived at the scene, he said.

According to police the 25-year-old was uncooperative with officers and refused to identify himself or follow directions.

"He displayed notable signs of intoxication, believed to be alcohol, and was taken safely into police custody," said O'Donaghey in a police statement.

"[He was] taken to the Kelowna RCMP detachment where he provided breath samples almost twice the legal limit."

The driver spent the night in custody and faces potential impaired driving charges.
