The husband of a woman found dead in a Richmond apartment block has been charged with her second-degree murder, Richmond RCMP said Monday.

Police said Jian Hua Wu (41) was living with his wife in the Panorama Place building at 7040 Granville Avenue, where the incident took place on Sunday.

Wu appeared in Richmond Provincial Court on Monday, where he was formally charged.

The victim's identity has not been released, as police are still trying to trace her family overseas.

The investigation is continuing at the apartment block, and residents evacuated on Sunday are not yet able to return, police said.
