Surrey man killed in overnight head-on collision in Delta

First responders attended the crash near Deltaport Way and Arthur Drive around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police say the driver of a sedan swerved into the path of a semi-truck on Deltaport Way.

A 40-year-old man from Surrey was killed in the crash; the second driver was uninjured

A 40-year-old man from Surrey was killed in a head-on collision with a semi-truck in Delta early Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the crash between the semi-truck and a sedan on Deltaport Way near Arthur Drive around 2:30 a.m. PT.

Delta Fire crews also attended the crash and had to perform CPR on one of the victims.

Delta Police said they believe the driver of the sedan was travelling eastbound on Deltaport, when he crossed into the westbound lanes, right into the path of the semi-truck.

The owner of the semi-truck was on scene and told CBC News his driver was taken to hospital. Police said the driver in the sedan was pronounced dead on scene.

At 6 a.m. PT Deltaport Way remained shut down between Arthur Drive and the Highway 17 exit as police investigated the collision.
