Police release sketch of East Vancouver sex assault suspect

Police say the female victim was walking along East 29th Avenue towards Rupert Street at about 8:40 p.m. PT when a man approached her from behind and groped her.

Vancouver police are releasing a composite sketch of a man accused of sexually assaulting a 57-year-old woman on Monday night. 

Const. Brian Montague says the woman was walking along East 29th Avenue towards Rupert Street at about 8:40 p.m. PT when the man approached her from behind and groped her. 

The woman tried to escape to a nearby home, Montague says, but the man attacked her again until he "abruptly stopped" and ran away. 

The suspect is described as:

  • 40 to 50-years-old.
  • White.
  • Between five-foot-ten inches and six-feet tall.
  • 170 pounds.
  • Short grey hair and small eyes.
  • Wearing a dark hoodie, jeans and white runners at the time of the attack.

Montague said the woman was treated for her injuries in hospital and has since been released.
