Crusoe, the celebrity dachshund, is in Vancouver as part of a cross-Canada campaign trying to raise awareness about the risks associated with ticks and fleas.

The canine internet sensation has starred in several viral videos and is attracting both human and animal fans.

"We like following Crusoe on Facebook," said Stefanie Fournier, a Langley-based photographer who has her own daschund, Farfell.

Crusoe will be signing 'paw-tographs' at Coopers' Park on April 27 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. PT.

Big ego?

The superstar dog's owner, Ryan Beauchesne said he started a blog of the now-famous dog almost five years ago.

"He always had a big ego. We say his ego is bigger than his body."

The 'wiener dog extraordinaire' has made several viral videos and has a strong following on social media, with over 179,000 followers on Instagram alone.

He even has a New York Times best-selling book.

But Beauchesne said Crusoe makes it easy.

"I'm convinced he knows that he is acting," he said.

"He has gotten really used to it and I wouldn't trade him for the world."

The dog's tour is funded by Bayer, the multi-national pharmaceutical company.
