The B.C. premier addresses provincial controversies in interview with CBC.

In a year-end interview with CBC reporter Richard Zussman, B.C. Premier Christy Clark says she remains committed to focusing on the economy.

Clark says a strong economy will enable the province to devote more resources to ministries like the Ministry of Children and Family Development, which a recent report said needed more funding.

"We don't have the resources to fix those problems unless we grow the economy," said Clark. "That's the beginning of all the good things we want to be able to do."

Clark addressed several contentious issues during the interview, including the possibility of increasing carbon pricing following an historic international agreement on climate change

"We're consulting about that now," she said. "The problem that we face is we want to make sure that we have the best most effective carbon pricing in the world, at the same time that we remain competitive."

Clark also spoke about the sale of cannabis in liquor stores which has been suggested in both Ontario and here in B.C.

"I'm open to ideas. We'll wait to see what federal legislation will look like," she said. "That's our starting point and then we'll figure out how to regulate it."

Clark also discussed the LNG industry.
