CBC Musical Nooners July 7: John Welsh Band

John Welsh's music is as varied as his travels, borrowing from folk, surf rock, reggae and Latin music.

Nooners run every weekday from noon to 1 p.m. until August 21 at the CBC Vancouver Plaza

The John Welsh Band takes the stage on Tuesday for the CBC's Musical Nooners series, hosted by the Early Edition's Rick Cluff.

With a guitar in one hand and a suitcase in the other, world traveller John Welsh got his start in the college house party scene playing songs to which everyone could sing along.

His catchy lyrics and upbeat melodies are inspired by his travel experiences and blend elements of folk, surf rock, reggae and Latin music.

Born in the Fraser Valley, Welsh draws influences from artists such as Ben Harper, Michael Franti, Sam Roberts and Joel Plaskett.
