CBC Musical Nooners July 22: Ialma
Music gives voice to the sounds and culture of Galicia, Camino de Santiago
Ialma will bring the traditional songs of their ancestors in Galicia, a region in northeast Spain, to the CBC Musical Nooners stage this Wednesday.
Based in Brussels, the five female singers that make up the band spent years gathering songs from their heritage over the years. They released a capella album Palabras darei in 2000. Since then, they have combined that sound with arrangements by Belgian musicians.
Their sound hearkens to the experiences of pilgrims share together on the Camino de Santiago, the various pilgrimages that culminate in the capital of Galicia, Santiago de Compostela,

The CBC Musical Nooners are a series of free, live music concerts every weekday from noon to 1 p.m. at the CBC Vancouver Plaza on Hamilton Street (between West Georgia and Robson).
