The Gay Nineties began as a duo of drummer Malcom Holt and singer Parker Bossley, who has also played with Hot Hot Heat and Mounties. Over time the group added bassist Daniel Knowlton and keyboardist Bruce Ledingham IV, rounding out the band's sound with vintage synth tones.

Their debut EP Coming Together was released to critical acclaim, and their single Letterman received heavy rotation on Canadian radio. The band is currently in the process of writing a full-length album.
