Maltais, Ricker 1-2 in snowboard

Canadian Dominique Maltais won her second straight race in a World Cup snowboard cross event by beating fellow Canadian and Olympic champion Maelle Ricker.

Canadians post identical result on back-to-back days at World Cup event

Dominique Maltais has edged fellow Canadian Maelle Ricker in a World Cup snowboard cross event for a second straight day.

The native of Petite-Riviere-St-Francois, Que., won the first race of the season Tuesday while Olympic champion Ricker, a native of Whistler, B.C., was second in Lech am Arlberg, Austria.

The Canadians duplicated that result Wednesday while Alexandra Jekova of Bulgaria won the bronze.

Maltais leads the standings with 2,000 points, followed by Ricker with 1,600.

On the men's side, Luca Matteotti of Italy captured his first World Cup gold. The 21-year-old Matteotti defeated Alex Pullin of Australia and Paul-Henri De le Rue of France in the final run.

American Nate Holland, who won the season-opening race on Tuesday, finished 13th to stay top of the World Cup standings with 1,200 points. Matteotti is second with 1,160 ahead of Austria's Mario Fuchs with 1,100.
