Canada Snowboard appoints interim CEO
Steven Hills has been named as the interim chief executive of Canada Snowboard after Tom McIllfaterick announced his resignation last month.
Hills took over the position Monday and will work out of the organization's Vancouver headquarters until a new CEO is hired next May.
"We took the decision to hire on an interim basis as we need time to regroup, consult and ensure that we find the right person for this important position," said Michael Gray, chairperson of Canada Snowboard's board of directors.
The search will begin shortly for a permanent replacement.
"We have narrowed down our selection to a candidate that we feel will best represent the interests of our cherished sport," Gray said.
The candidate must have "solid managerial experience as well as a wealth of knowledge in the sports industry," Gray said.
Prior to the Canada Snowboard job, Hills worked as vice-president of business operations for Canada Sport Centre Pacific, an organization that helps foster elite athletes, where he developed and implemented a new strategic plan and supervised operations.
Canada Snowboard is the national governing body for competitive snowboarding.
